What’s up
people, today I’m gonna show you how you can blur out the background of a photo
in Photoshop to give it a professional look.
Open up your
Photoshop and drag and drop (or open) your photo.
Grab your
quick selection tool and start selecting the background or foreground (object
you want in focus).
Pay
attention to the plus and minus signs on the top. Make sure that plus sign is
selected.
Now here’s
the thing. You have to select the background in order to blur it out. But in
most of the cases, foreground (object in focus) is easier to select than the
background. If that happens to be your case, just select the foreground first,
then right click on the selection and click ‘Select inverse’. That will select
the background for you.
Once you
have the area you want to blur selected, click on refine edge icon on the top
and increase the smoothness a little bit and click OK.
After that,
go to ‘Filters’ option on top and navigate to ‘Blur’ and finally ‘Lens Blur’
Now a new
window will pop up showing you all the settings and their effect. Adjust the
‘Radius’ to a position where you feel your photo looks natural. Remember that
too much blur will make your photo look artificial and unreal. You can play
around with some other settings to but not too much.
After that,
click ‘OK’ and it will apply the effect on your picture. After that you can
save your photo.
